Biography
Georges Johnstone médecin du 88e régiment d'infanterie, marié à Marianne Carter, fille de Guillaume et de Pricillia Rogers le 4 juin 1815 au Christ-Chuch à Sorel. La famille quittait Sorel pour demeurer en Irlande. Ils ont eu quatre fils dont l'aîné John Edward Johnstone né à Dublin le 19 mars 1829.
Georges Johnstone est décédé à Corfou, Grant, Washington, le 8 septembre 1833. Après la mort de celui-ci, sa veuve Marianne Carter revenait avec son fils John Edward Johnstone à Montréal en 1837. Il pratiquait la profession de médecin à Sorel. Sa mère est décédée le 25 septembre 1841 au Christ-Chuch à Sorel. Elle est inhumée dans le cimetière protestant.
Necrology
La stèle ce trouve à l'intérieure de l'église anglicane 4ème Vitrail « à la Gloire de Dieu et à la mémoire de George Johnstone. M.D. du 88e régiment, mort à Corfu le 8 seeptembre 1833, mort à Corfu le 8 septembre 1833. Son épouse Mary Ann Carter décédée le 8 septembre 1841». Fourth Window "To the Glory of God and in memory of George Johnstone M.D., 88th Regiment died at Corfu 8th September 1833, also of his wife Mary Anne Carter died 25th September 1841
